Existing strategies to deal with CO2 emissions include capturing the CO2 and storing them in underground geological formations and the ocean floor. Proponents of CO2 storage technology are simply looking at the potential lower cost of pumping CO2 from a large emitter, like a power plant, directly into the ground. We believe that storage is a dangerous solution with infinite ongoing cost due to continuous monitoring and management - very much like dealing with nuclear waste.
Transforming CO2, an industrial byproduct, into a useful raw material to further industrialization is the most sensible solution and represents a whole new paradigm in dealing with the problem of CO2 emissions.
