Carbon Sciences’ Gas-to-Liquid Technology Featured in and Pipeline Magazine

Articles Tout Company’s Swift Market-Ready Timeline and Beneficial Impact on Energy and Climate

Santa Barbara, CA - September 9, 2010 - Carbon Sciences, Inc. (CABN), the developer of a breakthrough technology to transform greenhouse gases into gasoline and other portable fuels, today announced its latest media coverage in and Pipeline magazine.

Reaching nearly 415,000 readers, the article titled, “System turns greenhouse gases into fuel” highlights, among other topics, Carbon Sciences’ swift timeline of approximately one year until its Gas to Liquids (GTL) fuel technology is ready for the commercial market.

“Unlike other technologies, such as those for algae biofuels, that may require decades for commercial deployment, our plan for delivering a market-ready sustainable fuel technology may be available as soon as early next year,” Carbon Sciences’ Chief Technology Officer, Naveed Aslam, Ph.D. told TGDaily reporter, Emma Woollacott. “Within a short period of time, we believe that the world can stop drilling for oil and start converting natural gas and greenhouse gases to gasoline,” says Aslam. “The feedstock could be sourced from natural gas fields or coal-fired power plants, landfill gas, municipal waste, and even algae,” he continued.

In the Pipeline magazine article titled, “Why carbon recycling is the wave of the future”, written by Carbon Sciences’ CEO, Byron Elton he references the late Dr. Lewis Thomas, who published an influential essay that has become a scientific classic, to describe the company’s feasibility in solving the world’s petroleum addiction.

Elton explained the essay saying, “In it, he described three types of medical technologies - non-technologies, which are caring and supportive; halfway technologies, which are expensive, risky and not especially effective; and decisive technologies, which are inexpensive, easy to deliver and solve the underlying problem.”

He later explains how Carbon Sciences' efforts will “find a solution to the dual problems of the increasing demand for energy and the consequent release of billions of tons of CO2 into the atmosphere, accelerating climate change.”

Established in 1996, Pipeline magazine provides the energy industry with news, industry analysis, exclusive content, insight and interviews every month. is a UK-based blog that focuses on breakthrough innovations in the areas of science, technology and business.

Gas-to-liquids (GTL) is a complimentary refinery processes that converts natural gas and other gaseous hydrocarbons into longer chain hydrocarbons such as gasoline. Carbon Sciences’ GTL technology is unique CO2-based.
